One of the best places I have found to find work or to create your own work is with the website Craigslist. There are so many opportunities to market your services on Craigslist. Why take a chance on the internet dealing with the unknown. Go out and create your own job and use Craigslist to market yourself and gain clients. I recently met one man who had been laid off from his corporate job. He didn’t wait for work to come to him. He created his own job by offering his services to be a small mover by using his pickup truck. There are a lot of people who need to move a lot of small stuff and they just need someone with a strong back and a truck to help. This man saw a need out there and he filled a niche. He told me he tried some other things that didn’t work out. He decided to create his own legit job on his own terms. He is actually making more money from his new venture than his old job. Craigslist is his only means of advertising and a lot of his work is now coming from referrals.

You may have other skills and you may want to work from home. Brainstorm your own personal abilities to see if you can discover how you can make money from home. I would prefer a home business if I could make it work and be profitable. I would encourage you to evaluate your own personal skills to see what others might be willing to pay you for. I would use Craigslist to market and advertise because it’s free. You will get an idea very soon if your work has a market. Concentrate on the small niches first. For example, if you have carpentry skills, don’t just advertise as a carpenter. Instead offer to build custom bookshelves and show pictures of your work in the ad. The specialized niche work will separate you from the others seeking the same work as you.
