Looking For Business Opportunity Leads
Looking for new business opportunity leads can be one of the most enjoyable parts of setting up a new venture, second only to when the money comes in! Unfortunately it can also be one of the most frustrating aspects of setting up in business. Get it right and you can replace your current boring job – get it wrong and you can waste a lot of time, money and energy for nothing.
Some people have a natural gift for spotting money making ideas that will work. However, most of us need some assistance and inspiration in finding a home business opportunity lead. For many types of opportunity, the best tool is the Internet as it is crammed full of all sorts of business ideas, some good and many that are bad. To find one that is suitable for you takes some care and an element of luck.
The worst thing that you can do is to surf aimlessly round the web looking for something that seems to have potential. You need a plan otherwise you will end up entering search items that interest you and are not necessarily money orientated.
There are a minimum of three phases of research that are needed to get anywhere near a business that will stand a chance of working for you. First you need to enter some general search terms for opportunities to get a feel for what is available. Start a spreadsheet and record web site addresses (URLs), business name, type and investment required. Add a column that gives it an initial grading – good, uncertain and bad would be a reasonable selection to use.
The second stage is to sift through you new database and reject all the “bad” ones. This is your initial reaction and is often a very good guide. Now you need to collate the others into the various categories such as ‘internet marketing’, ‘product retailing’ and ’selling services’ etc. You may be able to reject a number of different opportunities based on the broad category. Now comes the time to carry our some research into those categories that do interest you.
It is all about building up knowledge, so that you can make the right choice for you. The third stage of looking for your new business opportunity lead will be to take the remaining category that you feel that you can work within and carry out due diligence on the individual companies. This is not just reading each web site but going beyond – contacting the business with questions and visiting relevant forums to discuss how the business is viewed by their past and current customers.
If you follow a methodical three stage approach as detailed above, this will act as a checklist and hopefully help you reach your goal safely, that is to find business ideas that will make you money!
