Write Yourself Rich Online

If you intend to make yourself some extra money online, there are various avenues you will want to try out, and definitely some you’ll do best to avoid. Go into this with your eyes wide open, and with your cynicism gland firing on all cylinders! There are scams out there designed to part the unwary from his hard-earned cash, so beware. And that’s the first rule when you start out trying to make money online: don’t even consider paying any money upfront. There are plenty of ways to get started which will not cost you a cent.

If you have a little bit of artistic talent, or a passion for a certain subject, then the first places to consider are sites that offer you a free platform to post your writing. Take a look at Hubpages or Squidoo. Both of these let you open a free account and start building up some pages online about whatever interests you. You can even include products from eBay and Amazon and if visitors buy something via your page, you get a commission for it. Squidoo is the easiest one to set up for this, as they handle all the money, take their cut, and give you what is left. Hubpages expects you to actually open your own accounts with Amazon and Google Adsense in order to pay you your commissions – though doing this isn’t difficult.

These free platforms are great when you are starting out in the internet marketing business, because you will quickly realise that it isn’t as simple as just putting up content; it’ll be a case of “if you build it, they might come”. The hard work is in convincing people to come and visit your pages, and there are plenty of ways to do this. Ideally, you need to identify a subject that you are passionate about, and that lots of people are searching for in the search engines; and of course it needs to be worth enough money to be worth your while writing and promoting. To find out what other people are searching for, type “google keyword tool” into Google and you’ll find a very useful page where you can try out different topics to see how many people are interested. To figure out what your topic might be worth, you’ll need to experiment, or find a mentor who has already done loads of experiments – a site called the Keyword Academy has cool advice on this in its free sections.

Once you have figured out what to write about, how much it’ll probably be worth, and how to get visitors on a regular basis, then it’s time to spend some of your money investing in your own sites – and then write yourself rich online!
